On Thursday I attended Blackbox Connect Summer 2014 Demo Day in Palo Alto. After 2 weeks of intense mentoring and advising, 15 startups from all over the world, were ready to show off their polished pitching skills and why their product is the best. I was excited to see our very own Plan9 incubated startup XGear pitch to investors and industry insiders.
The event started off with short introduction by Fadi Bashara, the Founder of Blackbox. Then, 15 startups had 2 minutes each to pitch their company/product and talk about achievements.
XGear was second last to pitch. Both Ahmed Khalid, CEO of XGear, and CTO Kamran Butt took the stage. They gave a brief presentation about XGear and answered questions at the conclusion. Here’s the video:
Call me biased but I thought they did an excellent job. Pitches that preceded failed to impress, except two other pitches that I thought were also excellent — My Precious Life and Dragdis.
Blackbox was my second pitch related event, first one was earlier this year during OPEN Forum. I felt that even though it was a “demo” day, the format was quite casual and demos were available on demand. Overall, it was a great experience for me and I plan to visit next time around.
