Bookme.pk, a Lahore-based e-ticketing startup, raised $7.5 million in Series A funding from Zayn Capital, Lakson Venture Capita, Hayaat Global, BY Ventures, Jabbar Internet Group, Millville Opportunities, and Mentors Fund.

Elevator Pitch: A seamless online ticketing and travel platform.

Tell me more: It’s always a hassle to buy tickets at a store, a terminal, or a cinema. Commuting, waiting in long lines, and not having your tickets when you need them, make the process challenging.

Bookme provides a solution for all of this by offering online ticketing for bus services, cinema houses, airlines, hotels, and events.

In the last few years, due to investments in infrastructure and an increase in road connectivity, the startup has seen significant growth in the bus ticketing business.

You should know: Bookme was launched in 2012 by Faizan Aslam. With this new round of funding, Bookme has now raised a total of $8.8 million.

Bookme claims to be Pakistan’s first completely cashless platform, with over 6 million customers.

It has signed a deal with PCB to become the exclusive ticketing partner of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). It has exclusive rights to sell digital tickets for all cricket games in Pakistan until 2023.

Before you go: Bookme will use the funding to launch in Myanmar. In smaller cities with vans as a common form of transportation, it’ll digitize the ticketing process.
